For many years, Kaitesi Carolina lived as though her life had become an endless fight against exhaustion, sickness, and darkness.
At 68 years old, in Mulajje, Mukono District, Carolina carried two heavy responsibilities on her shoulders at the same time. By day and by night, she cared for a sick relative whose condition demanded constant attention. And alongside that burden, she raised her granddaughter, Elizabeth, trying desperately to protect the child’s future even while her own strength slowly weakened.
But when evening came, the struggle became even harder.
Darkness swallowed the house completely.
The small kerosene lamp they depended on filled the room with thick fumes that burned their lungs and irritated their eyes. The air became heavy and suffocating. Carolina’s trembling hands searched carefully through the darkness each night, trying to find medicine, water, or basic household items while fearing she might stumble or fail the person depending on her care.
For Elizabeth, the nights were equally painful.
She tried to study beneath smoke and weak flickering light while silence and fear filled the room around her.
And for Carolina, the emotional burden became unbearable at times.
Because darkness did not simply surround the home. It seemed to deepen the sickness inside it. The house no longer felt like a place of healing. It felt trapped in survival.

“When reliable light enters homes where people are sick or caregiving is happening, the emotional transformation is immediate,” Doreen explained. “The environment becomes healthier, calmer, and more dignified.”

“Reliable light helps restore healing environments inside homes,” he noted. “It protects caregivers, supports learning, and gives vulnerable families a renewed sense of hope.”
Today, nights inside Carolina’s home no longer feel consumed by sickness and fear.
The medicine is reached safely. Elizabeth studies peacefully. The air feels lighter.
And in a home where darkness once worsened suffering and exhausted the human spirit, Solar M7 is now helping restore something deeply powerful.
