At 90 years old, Fedelesi Nambwele has lived long enough to understand the true value of sacrifice, resilience, and legacy.
Inside her home in Kasenge Nakawuka, the grandmother of three spent years watching her little money disappear into flickering candles that barely lit the room. Night after night, she paid for weak flames that vanished almost as quickly as they appeared.
Yet even after spending what little she had, the darkness still won.
Her grandchildren’s studies ended early every evening. Books closed before lessons could be completed. The children struggled to continue learning, and Fedelesi quietly feared that the future she dreamed of for them was fading away in the darkness surrounding the home.
For her, the pain was not simply about lack of light.
It was about watching opportunity disappear from the next generation.
Then Solar M7 arrived.
And slowly, hope began returning again.
Today, her home glows with clean, reliable light after sunset. The grandchildren now sit comfortably reading and revising late into the evening, their education no longer interrupted by darkness or weak candle flames.
For Fedelesi, the transformation feels deeply emotional because she can now witness something she feared was slipping away.

“Before Solar M7, the children could not study properly at night, and candles cost us too much,” Fedelesi shared during her interview. “Now they read freely, and I feel peaceful seeing them continue learning.”
According to Doreen Nanfuka, elderly caregivers often carry enormous emotional responsibility for the future of the children depending on them.
“When grandparents see children gaining better opportunities through education, it brings them comfort and hope,” Doreen explained. “Reliable light helps families protect dreams that might otherwise be lost to poverty and darkness.”
Innocent Kawooya says stories like Fedelesi’s reveal how energy access directly shapes educational continuity across generations.
“When children gain safe and reliable study time, entire families begin believing in the future again,” he noted. “Reliable light becomes an investment in hope, education, and long-term transformation.”
Today, nights inside Fedelesi’s home no longer feel defeated by darkness.
Books remain open.
The grandchildren continue learning.
And in a household where flickering candles once threatened to dim an elderly grandmother’s legacy, Solar M7 is now helping illuminate something beautiful.
