For many years, Natongo Kalita and her husband lived as though darkness owned their home.
In Kamengo, Mpigi District, the 45-year-old mother built her family’s life around the weak glow of kerosene lamps that barely illuminated the room. Night after night, the dim flames filled the house with smoke, discomfort, and silence.
The children rarely stayed active after sunset.
Conversations ended early.
The home felt heavy and lifeless once darkness arrived.
For Kalita, it sometimes felt as though the family was surviving inside a graveyard of shadows rather than a place filled with life and hope.
Fear quietly shaped their evenings. Fear of accidents. Fear of insecurity. Fear of living year after year without change. And slowly, the darkness began burying their dreams beneath hopelessness and routine.
Then Solar M7 arrived. And everything inside the house began to change.
Today, reliable solar light fills their home after sunset with brightness, warmth, and renewed life. The silence that once consumed the evenings has been replaced with conversation, movement, laughter, and peace.

For Kalita, the transformation feels deeply emotional.
“Before Solar M7, our nights felt empty and difficult because kerosene could not truly light our lives,” Kalita shared during her interview. “Now the home feels happy, safe, and alive again.”
According to Doreen Nanfuka, many families living with unreliable lighting experience emotional and social isolation once darkness falls.
“When reliable light enters a household, the atmosphere changes completely,” Doreen explained. “Families reconnect, children become more active, and homes regain warmth and emotional energy.”
Innocent Kawooya says stories like Kalita’s reveal how energy access transforms not only homes, but also emotional wellbeing and family life.
“Reliable light restores dignity, connection, and hope inside households,” he noted. “It helps families feel alive again.”
Today, nights inside Kalita’s home no longer feel buried beneath darkness.
The children laugh again. The family lives freely after sunset. And in a household where kerosene once dimmed both light and dreams, Solar M7 is now helping restore something beautiful.
