At 29 years old, Nakidde Kevin carries the hopes of three generations inside one home in Bukalango, Wakiso District.
She lives with her mother and her two daughters — building a life held together by resilience, sacrifice, and the quiet determination many women carry every single day.
But for years, reliable light felt completely out of reach.
When darkness came, the home became limited by it. Basic tasks became harder. Charging a phone required extra effort and expense. Even imagining a more stable future sometimes felt distant when evenings disappeared so quickly into darkness.
For Kevin, life often felt paused between survival and possibility.
Then Solar M7 arrived. And suddenly, the atmosphere inside the home changed.
Today, her house glows warmly at night. Her phone charges safely from home. The evenings feel calmer, more productive, and more hopeful. The family remains connected, the children feel more secure, and the home no longer feels trapped by darkness.
But for Kevin, the transformation is about more than convenience.
It is about confidence.
“Before Solar M7, reliable light felt like something very far away from us,” Kevin shared during her interview. “Now our home feels alive at night, and I feel hopeful about building a better future for my daughters.”
According to Doreen Nanfuka, access to reliable energy often creates emotional and economic empowerment for women leading households and raising children.
“When women gain safer lighting and reliable phone charging at home, it changes how they plan, communicate, work, and care for their families,” Doreen explained. “You can see confidence returning into the household.”
Innocent Kawooya says empowering women through energy access creates long-term ripple effects across families and communities.
“When women gain greater stability and opportunity, entire households benefit,” he noted. “Reliable light supports education, communication, productivity, safety, and the ability to dream beyond survival.”
Today, nights inside Kevin’s home no longer feel uncertain.
The family gathers beneath reliable light.
