For Joyce Muzaale, caregiving once became a nightly struggle against fear and helplessness.
At 64 years old, the farmer and caregiver from Kamengo, Mpigi District spends her days looking after a patient unable to speak for themselves — a responsibility requiring constant attention, patience, and emotional strength.
But before Solar M7 arrived, nighttime emergencies felt terrifying.
When problems arose after sunset, Joyce often found herself trapped between darkness and isolation. Phones would lose power at the worst possible moments. The house remained poorly lit. And if urgent help was needed, responding quickly became painfully difficult.
For a caregiver responsible for another human life, the fear was overwhelming.
Because emergencies do not wait for daylight. And darkness made her feel powerless to protect the person depending on her. Every evening carried anxiety.
Every dead phone deepened the feeling of vulnerability. And slowly, the burden began affecting Joyce emotionally and physically as well.
Then Solar M7 arrived. And suddenly, hope returned to the household.
Today, reliable solar light fills the home after sunset, and phones remain charged and ready during emergencies. Joyce now responds more confidently whenever care is needed at night. The atmosphere inside the household feels calmer, safer, and more prepared to handle difficult moments.
For Joyce, the transformation feels like strength restored.
“Before Solar M7, nighttime emergencies were very frightening because we had no reliable light or phone charging,” Joyce shared during her interview. “Now I feel more confident caring for my patient and protecting the family.”
According to Doreen Nanfuka, caregivers in underserved communities often carry enormous emotional pressure when households lack reliable energy access.
“When homes gain reliable light and communication tools, caregivers feel less isolated and more capable of responding during emergencies,” Doreen explained. “It directly improves household safety and emotional wellbeing.”
Innocent Kawooya says stories like Joyce’s show how energy access supports healthcare, caregiving, and family resilience at the household level.
“Reliable light and phone charging help families respond faster and more safely during emergencies,” he noted. “It protects lives and strengthens the people carrying the burden of care.”
Today, nights inside Joyce’s home no longer feel helpless. The phones remain connected. The house stays prepared. And in a household where darkness once endangered vulnerable lives, Solar M7 is now helping restore something deeply important.
