Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has announced the postponement of the 8th Kampala City Festival, which had been scheduled to take place on 4th October 2026.
In a statement issued on 7th July 2026, KCCA said the decision was taken after consultations with key stakeholders and prioritises the health and safety of residents, visitors, and partners.
“After consultations with key stakeholders, a difficult but necessary decision has been taken to postpone the festival to a future date that will be communicated once guidance is received,” the statement read.
The Kampala City Festival has become one of the city’s most anticipated annual events, celebrating the capital’s culture, unity, and community spirit. The festival typically features parades, live music, cultural performances, food exhibitions, and family-friendly activities, drawing thousands of participants from across the city and beyond.
KCCA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the festival continues as an annual celebration, “but always in a way that safeguards public wellbeing.”
“We remain committed to ensuring the festival continues as an annual celebration of culture, unity and community spirit, but always in a way that safeguards public wellbeing,” the statement said.
The authority thanked partners, sponsors, and citizens for their understanding and continued support.
“We reaffirm our dedication to building a vibrant, attractive, livable, and sustainable city,” KCCA said.
The new date for the festival will be communicated once guidance is received. No specific reason for the postponement was provided in the press release, though KCCA emphasised that the decision prioritises public health and safety.
