At 17 years old, Kyeyune Aloysius already knows exactly who he wants to become.
A mechanical engineer.
Not someday in imagination alone, but in real life.
He dreams of building machines, solving problems, and creating innovations that could one day change lives far beyond his village in Bukalango, Wakiso District.
But before Solar M7 arrived, darkness kept standing between Aloysius and that dream.
When night came, studying became difficult. Books closed too early. Revision time disappeared with the sunlight, even when exams, assignments, and ambition demanded more hours.
For a student fighting for a future through education, those lost evenings felt painful.
Because dreams need time to grow.
And darkness kept stealing that time away.
Then Solar M7 arrived.
And suddenly, the nights began working in his favor instead of against him.
Today, Aloysius studies beneath reliable solar light long after sunset. He now gains an estimated 10 to 15 extra hours of learning every week, precious time that allows him to revise, focus, and move closer toward the future he imagines for himself.
For him, the transformation feels powerful.
“Before Solar M7, studying at night was difficult and frustrating,” Aloysius shared during his interview. “Now I can revise properly after sunset, and I feel more confident about achieving my dream of becoming a mechanical engineer.”
According to Doreen Nanfuka, students like Aloysius demonstrate how access to reliable light directly influences educational confidence and long-term ambition.
“When young people gain more study time, their mindset changes,” Doreen explained. “You begin hearing bigger dreams, stronger determination, and greater belief in what is possible for their future.”
Innocent Kawooya says one of the most important goals of #100DaysofSolar is helping young people unlock their full potential regardless of where they come from.
“A child’s ambition should never be limited by darkness,” he noted. “Reliable energy gives students more time, more opportunity, and a stronger chance to compete for the future they deserve.”
Today, evenings inside Aloysius’ home no longer signal the end of learning.
Books stay open. Dreams stay alive.
And in a village where darkness once threatened to silence one young boy’s ambition, Solar M7 is helping power something extraordinary.
