First Lady Janet Museveni has welcomed international evangelist Bishop Dr LaDonna C. Osborn at State House Entebbe, marking one of her first public appearances following months of recovery from illness.
Bishop Osborn is in Uganda for the consecration of Pastor Patience Rwabwogo as an Episcopal bishop, scheduled for August 23.
The meeting was a special and deeply nostalgic occasion for the First Lady, who recalled Bishop Osborn’s first visit to Uganda in 1985 with her late mother, who ministered to many Ugandans during a difficult period in the country’s history. They reflected on the longstanding spiritual relationship between the Osborn family and Uganda, and the transformation the nation has undergone over the years.
“Maama Janet also fondly recalled Dr. Osborn’s mother, who prayed with our family and gave our children their first Bibles,” President Museveni said in a post on X.
He added, “We reflected on Uganda’s transformation over the years and the enduring friendship between the Osborn family and Uganda. I welcome Dr. Osborn back to Uganda and wish Pastor Patience a blessed consecration.”
Janet Museveni expressed her gratitude for the visit, saying, “It was a special and deeply nostalgic meeting for me as I remembered her late mother, who visited our family many years ago. She prayed with us and gave each of our children their first Bible, together with one of her books. The memories of that visit remain very precious to our family.”
The meeting was also a moment of celebration for the First Lady’s family, as her daughter, Natasha Museveni Karugire, shared the news on social media, writing, “We serve a living GOD!!”
The encounter underscores the enduring bonds of faith and friendship between Uganda and the Osborn family, and serves as a testament to the First Lady’s continued engagement in her public duties after her health challenges.
