Vivo Energy Launches ‘Linya Levo’ Campaign to Empower Boda Riders with Premium Engine Oil

Vivo Energy Uganda has launched a new campaign for Shell Advance AX7 10W-40 motorcycle engine oil, targeting boda boda riders and other motorcycle users across the country with a focus on maintenance, fuel efficiency, and reducing operating costs.

The campaign, dubbed “Linya Levo,” was launched in Kampala on Tuesday and seeks to promote better motorcycle maintenance while helping riders reduce operating costs and protect their motorcycles.

Shell Advance AX7 10W-40 is a synthetic-blend lubricant designed to provide engine protection and improved fuel efficiency under demanding riding conditions. According to Vivo Energy Uganda, the lubricant can provide up to 7,000 kilometres between oil changes, potentially extending routine servicing intervals to between three and four weeks.

The company also says the product can improve fuel economy by up to three kilometres per litre compared with ordinary mineral engine oils, while offering 36% greater protection against engine wear. The lubricant is designed to keep engine pistons 33% cleaner and provide 29% better thermal protection at high operating temperatures, which it says can contribute to improved motorcycle performance and longer engine life.

Joanita Mukasa Menya, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Uganda, said the company recognises the importance of motorcycles to Ugandans who depend on them for their livelihoods.

“At Vivo Energy, we recognise that for many Ugandans, a motorcycle is far more than a machine; it is a business, a livelihood, and a family’s primary source of income,” she said.

“The ‘Linya Levo’ campaign represents strength, resilience, and the confidence to keep moving forward despite tough economic conditions. We engineered Shell Advance AX7 to work as hard as the people who rely on it, helping riders lower running costs, prevent costly breakdowns, and maximise their daily earnings,” Menya added.

The campaign will involve engagements with boda boda riders, mechanics, garage owners, and other players in Uganda’s motorcycle industry, with a focus on preventive maintenance and the use of quality lubricants. Menya said mechanics would be central to the campaign because of their influence over maintenance decisions.

“Mechanics are trusted experts in the motorcycle ecosystem. Riders listen to their advice and their recommendations influence the products that riders choose,” she said.

The campaign will also offer incentives to riders. Customers who purchase a one-litre pack of Shell Advance AX7 10W-40 from a Shell station or authorised spare-parts dealer can peel back the seal, dial *2953#, and enter the unique product code. Participants will stand a chance to win airtime, high-visibility jackets, keyrings, and other merchandise intended to support their daily operations.

Francis Kayoki, Lubricants Sales Manager at Vivo Energy Uganda, said the initiative is intended to provide immediate rewards while encouraging riders to take better care of their motorcycles. “We want to reward our riders immediately while helping them protect their investments for the long term,” he said.

Menya said the launch was intended to mark the beginning of a sustained relationship with Uganda’s motorcycle community rather than simply the introduction of a new product. “Today, therefore, is not the end of a product launch. It is the beginning of a broader conversation with Uganda’s motorcycle community. We want to listen to riders. We want to understand their experiences and learn more about what matters to them,” she said.
