For Arinitwe Justine, motherhood once came with a fear she carried silently every single night.
Living in Kasenge Nakawuka with her two children, the 29-year-old mother often faced a difficult reality after sunset. When candles ran out unexpectedly, she had little choice but to send the children out into the darkness to buy more light.
And every time they left the house at night, fear followed them. Fear of burns from unsafe candles. Fear of accidents on dark roads. Fear of kidnappings and dangers no parent should ever have to imagine.
For Justine, darkness forced her into impossible decisions where even trying to keep the house lit meant risking her children’s safety.
The nights became emotionally exhausting. Because no mother wants to choose between darkness and danger. Then Solar M7 arrived. And suddenly, the fear began to disappear.
Today, her home remains brightly lit after sunset without needing emergency trips into the night. The children stay safely indoors with their mother. The household feels calmer, more secure, and more peaceful than it had for years.
For Justine, the transformation feels like emotional relief.
“Before Solar M7, I worried every time the children had to go outside at night for candles,” Justine shared during her interview. “Now they remain safely at home, and I finally feel peaceful as a mother.”
According to Doreen Nanfuka, many mothers in underserved communities quietly carry enormous emotional stress caused by unsafe energy conditions.
“When families depend on candles and darkness surrounds communities, parents constantly worry about the safety of their children,” Doreen explained. “Reliable light removes many of those risks and restores peace inside the household.”
Innocent Kawooya says stories like Justine’s show how energy access directly protects children and strengthens family wellbeing.
“Reliable light creates safer homes and safer childhoods,” he noted. “No parent should have to risk a child’s safety simply because a household lacks proper lighting.”
Today, nights inside Justine’s home no longer feel filled with anxiety. Her children remain safe indoors. The house stays bright. And in a home where darkness once forced a mother to gamble with her children’s safety, Solar M7 is now helping restore something every parent deserves.
