Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Arijit Singh and Drake complete the Top Five in a worldwide assessment of the artists people deliberately listened to, watched, saved, performed, recreated and paid to experience.
By HiPipo Money Editorial and Research Desk
Global music leadership is often reduced to one dramatic number: the largest revenue, the most streams, the biggest tour or the loudest cultural moment. Each measure reveals something important, but none can, on its own, explain how completely an artist has entered people’s lives. A credible worldwide assessment must examine several forms of public choice without pretending that they measure the same behaviour.
The inaugural HiPipo Money Top 10 Global Music Artists therefore asks a broader question: whose music did people deliberately choose? We examined who audiences repeatedly listened to and watched, saved for later, performed and recreated, paid to experience in person, and continued to consume beyond the release cycle. We also considered whether that demand travelled across markets and whether established catalogues remained active alongside new music.
The answer is Bad Bunny, HiPipo Money’s No. 1 Global Music Artist for the 2026 Founding Edition. His first place reflects the strongest convergence identified across recent audio listening, music video consumption, and paid live demand. Taylor Swift finishes second as the outstanding worldwide commercial benchmark, while The Weeknd, Arijit Singh and Drake complete a Top Five that captures the scale, range and complexity of contemporary global consumption.
This is an official HiPipo Money editorial ranking informed by multi-source evidence, not a mechanically generated composite score. Audio streams, video views, saves, creator uses, performed covers, sales equivalents, tickets and monetary values were assessed in their proper contexts rather than converted into fictional common units. The result is a clear first edition that makes a defensible decision while showing exactly where future data can make the annual system stronger.
The HiPipo Money Top 10 Global Music Artists
10. Kendrick Lamar: a defining recent-consumption case

Kendrick Lamar ranked sixth on both Spotify’s official 2025 global artist list and IFPI’s worldwide artist chart. Apple Music’s annual song ranking placed luther, with SZA, second and Not Like Us fourth. Those results demonstrate immediate and substantial demand across both artist-level and song-level evidence during the principal performance period.
The performance of luther supports both credited acts and is not treated as Kendrick’s achievement alone. His tenth place confirms that a current annual ranking cannot be determined mainly by lifetime familiarity when newer public choices are this visible. He completes the Top 10 ahead of an exceptionally strong boundary group whose positions may change as HiPipo Money secures better participation, geography and regional-platform data.
09. Fuerza Regida: a group powered by demand, not a quota

Fuerza Regida ranked tenth on Spotify’s official global artist list and twelfth in the YouTube reconstruction. The group reflects the expanding international force of regional Mexican music, but its place is neither a diversity award nor a guaranteed band position. It qualifies because substantial demand is visible across two major consumption environments.
More country-level evidence would help distinguish concentrated regional strength from broad worldwide diffusion, but the observed scale already establishes Fuerza Regida as a serious global contender. Its inclusion also demonstrates a permanent rule for the series: a group occupies one position, while members’ independent careers are assessed separately. Group and solo totals will not be combined to create an artificial advantage.
08. Alka Yagnik: the YouTube reality a global list cannot ignore

Alka Yagnik presents the most important challenge to conventional definitions of worldwide popularity. ChartMasters’ 2025 YouTube reconstruction placed her first with 24.1 billion artist-level views, ahead of Udit Narayan and Arijit Singh; nine of its ten leading artists were Indian. Even with the necessary methodological qualifications, consumption on that scale cannot reasonably be dismissed by an assessment claiming global reach.
The figures are views rather than unique viewers, and YouTube artist totals may combine official music videos with qualifying user videos containing an official recording. Paid advertising views are excluded from its charts, Music Insights excludes Shorts, and a video using a master recording is not equivalent to a newly performed cover. Alka enters at eighth because the evidence is too significant to ignore, while those definitional limits remain clearly disclosed for future metric development.
07. Billie Eilish: intensity beyond catalogue size

Billie Eilish ranked fifth on Spotify’s 2025 global artist list and ninth on IFPI’s worldwide artist chart. Her strength is not the volume of an unusually large catalogue but the continuing intensity surrounding a comparatively concentrated body of work. That distinction matters in a ranking seeking to understand deliberate repeat choice rather than simply count the number of available recordings.
Birds of a Feather placed second among Spotify’s global songs of 2025 and fifth on Apple Music’s annual worldwide song chart. Song-level results do not create an additional artist score, but they confirm that one of the year’s defining recordings sustained attention across platforms and reporting periods. Eilish takes seventh by combining major artist-level consumption with exceptional persistence at song level. Apple Music Replay reporting
06. Bruno Mars: reach, collaboration and song-level power

Bruno Mars ranked seventh on Spotify’s official 2025 artist list, while the calendar-year reconstruction estimated approximately 9.27 billion lead-artist streams. In January 2025, Spotify announced that he had become the first artist to reach 150 million monthly listeners. That was a dated milestone rather than a permanent audience total, but it demonstrated extraordinary reach at a significant point in the performance year. Spotify’s listener milestone
His collaborative work added a second major signal. IFPI named APT., by ROSÉ and Bruno Mars, the biggest-selling global single of 2025 at 2.06 billion subscription-stream-equivalent units; those are standardised commercial equivalents rather than raw plays, and the credit belongs to both performers. Mars finishes sixth because his impact appears across artist-level listening, video reach and major song performance, with his solo results kept separate from ROSÉ’s work and BLACKPINK’s group activity. IFPI’s 2025 Global Single Chart
05. Drake: catalogue depth and sustained listening

Drake placed fourth on Spotify’s official 2025 global artist list and third on IFPI’s worldwide chart. The calendar-year reconstruction attributed approximately 12.64 billion lead-artist Spotify streams to him, placing him among the year’s most heavily consumed recording acts. His fifth position reflects sustained demand across a prolific body of work rather than dependence on one release or moment.
His scale also exposes an issue the annual methodology must continue to manage. Large catalogues and frequent collaborations create more opportunities for consumption, while lead-artist and all-credit totals can produce materially different results. HiPipo Money therefore keeps attribution rules explicit and will seek comparable measures of returning listeners and catalogue intensity to distinguish durable repeat choice from the advantage of release volume.
04. Arijit Singh: global scale cannot be defined only in the West

Arijit Singh is central to the purpose and credibility of this list. He ranked ninth in Spotify’s official 2025 worldwide artist order, third in the accessed YouTube reconstruction and first in JioSaavn’s 2025 overall artist ranking as reported by Music Plus. Together, those results show substantial demand across global audio, global video and a major Indian listening environment. JioSaavn Replay reporting
A listener in a large home market is not less global, valuable or real than one reached through an English-language service. Geographic breadth should show how demand is distributed; it should not be used to discount enormous observed consumption in India or another populous market. Arijit’s fourth place is therefore not symbolic representation but recognition of demonstrated, cross-platform public choice at global scale.
03. The Weeknd: current power with exceptional durability

The Weeknd combines major annual performance with a catalogue that continues to behave like current music. He ranked third on Spotify’s 2025 global artist list and fourth on IFPI’s worldwide artist chart, while the calendar-year reconstruction attributed approximately 13.31 billion lead-artist Spotify streams to him. That alignment across current audio and commercial evidence establishes one of the year’s strongest multi-source cases.
His long-term position strengthens the assessment without being counted as another year of consumption. Spotify’s April 2026 twentieth-anniversary review placed The Weeknd fourth among the platform’s most-streamed artists of all time and ranked Blinding Lights first among songs. Third place recognises an artist succeeding in both timeframes: commanding current attention while sustaining extraordinary demand for an established catalogue. Spotify’s twentieth-anniversary rankings
02. Taylor Swift: the commercial standard

Taylor Swift would lead a ranking designed principally around worldwide commercial value. IFPI named her the biggest-selling global artist of 2025 for a record-extending sixth time, placing her first in a chart that combines worldwide streaming, downloads and physical formats while accounting for their relative economic value. She also finished second on Spotify’s global artist list and in the calendar-year lead-stream reconstruction, demonstrating that her commercial leadership was supported by immense direct consumption. IFPI’s 2025 Global Artist Chart
TikTok additionally identified Swift as its most-saved artist of 2025, a meaningful sign that discovery was converting into an intention to return. Her second place reflects HiPipo Money’s emphasis, not a weakness in her global position: IFPI answers who generated the greatest worldwide recorded-music value, while this edition gives greater editorial priority to the convergence of current public consumption and participation. Swift remains the clearest alternative No. 1 and the benchmark against which every claim to global music leadership must be tested. TikTok’s 2025 music results
01. Bad Bunny: the strongest recent-consumption case

Bad Bunny’s first place begins with audio leadership. Spotify named him its leading global artist of 2025 and reported 19.8 billion streams during the platform’s January-to-mid-November Wrapped window. A transparent specialist reconstruction of the full calendar year also placed him first, with approximately 21.00 billion lead-artist streams, narrowly ahead of Taylor Swift’s 20.59 billion. Spotify’s 2025 global results, Spotify’s Wrapped methodology, ChartMasters’ calendar-year reconstruction
That audio result is reinforced by other forms of demand. ChartMasters’ artist-level YouTube reconstruction placed Bad Bunny sixth for 2025 with 11.1 billion views, while Pollstar’s separately labelled 2026 midyear results ranked him first with US$225.2 million and 1,496,735 tickets reported between 13 November 2025 and 13 May 2026. The touring evidence sits outside the principal calendar-year window, but it confirms the continuing force of an artist whose music people streamed, watched and paid to gather around at exceptional scale. ChartMasters’ YouTube analysis, Pollstar’s 2026 midyear analysis
The No. 1 test: Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran
A credible ranking must withstand the strongest competing claims. Bad Bunny leads when recent public consumption and its convergence across audio, video and live demand receive primary emphasis; Taylor Swift leads the strongest worldwide commercial framework. These are related conclusions produced by different, clearly stated questions rather than conflicting versions of the same statistic.
Ed Sheeran presents a compelling third case built around catalogue durability, music learning and live attendance. Spotify’s April 2026 all-time assessment placed him sixth among artists, while Shape of You and Perfect ranked second and ninth among songs and Divide ranked third among albums. A November 2025 study reported by Guitar World also placed Ed first for accumulated Ultimate Guitar tab page views at 229.5 million, ahead of the Beatles at 226.1 million and Taylor Swift at 167.8 million, based on 5,000 popular tabs or chord sheets representing 3,424 songs. Guitar World’s report
That learning evidence is powerful, but it is neither a count of distinct musicians nor proof that the songs were performed as completed covers. Ed was eighteenth on IFPI’s 2025 global artist chart and recorded approximately 6.00 billion lead-artist Spotify streams in the calendar-year reconstruction, materially behind the leading annual performers. The verdict is therefore precise: Ed Sheeran remains one of the world’s strongest catalogue, live and music-learning artists, but the available annual evidence does not place him in the overall top 10 in this Founding Edition.
Every continent, language and genre qualifies for the HiPipo Money Top 10, but no region receives a guaranteed position. The objective is not to manufacture geographic balance; it is to remove the blind spots that prevent demonstrated demand from being seen. India has already changed the inaugural ranking through Arijit Singh and Alka Yagnik, while Udit Narayan, Pritam and Shreya Ghoshal require continuing review.
China and Africa illustrate why regional evidence must be interpreted rather than merely appended. Tencent Music reported more than RMB100 million in combined digital and physical benefits for Jay Chou’s Children of the Sun in May 2026, establishing major commercial demand without disclosing comparable streams or unique buyers. Boomplay reported that Burna Boy, Asake and Omah Lay crossed cumulative one-billion-stream milestones during 2025; those are career milestones reached during the year, not one billion annual plays for each artist, so annual increments and geographic distribution remain essential data gaps. Tencent Music’s Q1 2026 results, Boomplay’s 2025 recap
The continuing candidate review includes African leaders such as Rema, Tyla, Tems, Wizkid and Davido; Korean acts including Stray Kids, BTS and SEVENTEEN; Japanese leaders including Mrs. GREEN APPLE; Arabic-language stars including Amr Diab; Latin artists including Karol G and Shakira; and Oceanian acts including AC/DC, Sia, Tame Impala, Lorde and The Kid LAROI. These names are not substitutes for evidence, but they define the ecosystems from which comparable data must be secured. The governing principle is firm: missing local-platform data is not evidence of missing popularity. This Global listing will soon inspire rising names such as Joshua Baraka.
The Founding Edition evaluates five distinct dimensions. Recorded consumption examines audio listening and qualifying long-form music-video viewing, while active participation examines what people did with the music through saves, performed covers, creator activity, learning, dance and karaoke. These behaviours remain separate because a view is not an audio play, a repeated post is not a distinct creator, and a lip-sync using a master recording is not a newly performed cover.
Geographic breadth evaluates how demand is distributed without discounting the importance of a large home market. Live choice prioritises paid attendance over gross revenue because ticket volume more directly reflects transactions, while still recognising that one ticket does not necessarily equal one distinct person and that touring opportunity varies. Catalogue durability examines whether older recordings continued to attract meaningful consumption and whether demand persisted through the year.
HiPipo Money is developing the Global Music Choice Index around provisional weights of 40% recorded consumption, 25% active participation, 15% geographic breadth, 10% live choice and 10% catalogue durability. Those weights did not mathematically generate this inaugural order and will become official only after a frozen platform panel, explicit attribution rules, adequate regional coverage and sensitivity testing demonstrate that the results remain stable under reasonable assumptions. Until then, HiPipo Money will choose transparent editorial judgement over invented precision.
The Founding Edition’s most material challengers are Ariana Grande, Udit Narayan, Lady Gaga, Stray Kids, Coldplay, BTS and Ed Sheeran. Ariana combined strong annual audio consumption with fifth place in Spotify’s April 2026 all-time artist list; Udit ranked second in the accessed YouTube reconstruction; and Stray Kids placed second on IFPI’s 2025 global artist chart. Lady Gaga added newer touring strength to major recorded performance, while Coldplay remained an exceptional live act: Pollstar reported 2.9 million tickets in its 2025 reporting year and 13,138,644 tickets across the full 223-show Music of the Spheres tour. Pollstar’s 2025 year-end analysis
Exclusion from the Top 10 is not a statement that an artist has fewer fans than every included act. It means the available evidence, definitions and chosen emphasis placed ten other acts inside this inaugural boundary. Better regional and participation data may change both membership and order in future editions, which is why the annual process will publish challenger evidence rather than hide close decisions.
The 2026 Founding Edition begins an annual HiPipo Money research property using the latest completed calendar year as its principal performance window and identifying later developments separately. Future editions will begin with a frozen candidate pool of at least 200 acts drawn from global and regional charts, apply consistent collaboration rules, and preserve missing values as missing rather than converting them into zeros. Bands and groups will remain separate from their members’ solo careers throughout the process.
Every shortlisted artist should ultimately receive an evidence card setting out the measure, source, period, interpretation and correction route behind the assessment. Artist teams will be invited to verify factual inputs, but participation, sponsorship and commercial partnership will never guarantee or improve a position. If HiPipo Money introduces a public audience ballot, it will be reported as a separate people’s award and will not purchase or determine the evidence-led ranking.
The HiPipo Money verdict
The world did not make one music choice in 2025; it made billions of them through streams, saves, views, performances, creations and tickets. Bad Bunny leads because the strongest available evidence shows those choices converging around him at an exceptional current scale, while Taylor Swift remains the commercial standard and closest alternative leader. The Weeknd demonstrates the power of a catalogue that refuses to age, and Arijit Singh and Alka Yagnik show why global music cannot be understood through a Western lens.
Fuerza Regida confirms that groups and regional-language movements can earn global positions through demand itself, while the wider Top 10 demonstrates that no single platform, market or monetary total can define the world’s musical choices. This is not the last word on global music leadership; it is HiPipo Money’s first disciplined answer. It establishes a credible foundation for a measurement system designed to become broader, more comparable and more influential every year.
Methodology and source note
The HiPipo Money Top 10 Global Music Artists – 2026 Founding Edition is an evidence-led editorial ranking based principally on performance from 1 January to 31 December 2025. Spotify Wrapped uses a January-to-mid-November window, while Apple Music’s annual chart uses 1 November 2024 to 31 October 2025; those periods were preserved rather than treated as identical. IFPI’s artist chart incorporates worldwide streaming, downloads and physical sales through an economics-weighted methodology, while secondary ChartMasters reconstructions were used transparently where platforms did not publish comparable annual artist totals.
Audio streams, video views, sales equivalents, saves, creator uses, performed covers, tickets and monetary values were not equated. Group and solo-member activity remained separate; no universal fan count or worldwide cover total was invented, and newer 2026 touring or lifetime developments were used only as labelled context. Principal sources include Spotify, IFPI, YouTube’s methodology, Pollstar, TikTok, ChartMasters’ Spotify reconstruction and ChartMasters’ YouTube reconstruction. Research cut-off: 7 September 2026.
Corrections: Artist representatives, platforms and readers may submit documented factual corrections to socialweb@HiPipo.com. Corrections can improve the record but cannot be purchased and do not guarantee a ranking change; material amendments should be logged with the published feature so the annual record remains transparent.
