1,000 Ways to Build Wealth: Why Protecting Your Time Matters, Innocent Kawooya Explains

HiPipo CEO Innocent Kawooya has urged people seeking to build wealth to treat time as a valuable form of capital, encouraging them to protect their time, understand its value, prioritise high-value activities, plan their days and develop the ability to focus deeply.

Innocent shared the message on Wednesday, September 16, during the latest edition of the “1,000 Ways to Build Wealth” series, his weekly financial literacy TikTok Live sessions. The session was also streamed live on HiPipo TV and Gagamel TV YouTube channels.

For the third consecutive session, Innocent was joined by co-host Musonga Eclipse, Mr. President and former Makerere University Guild President aspirant.

The latest session covered Ways 31 to 35, shifting the focus from financial discipline and spending habits to the effective management of time, attention and daily activities.

Protect Your Time

Way 31 in the 1,000 Ways to Build Wealth is Protect Your Time.

Innocent described time as limited capital, emphasising that unlike money, time cannot be recovered once it has been spent.

He encouraged people to use their time deliberately for activities that contribute to their goals, including productive work, learning, meaningful relationships, recovery and personal development.

The lesson challenges people to become more intentional about where their hours go instead of allowing their time to be consumed by activities that do not contribute to their personal, professional or financial objectives.

Know the Value of Your Time

For Way 32, Innocent encouraged people to Know the Value of Your Time.

Understanding what one’s time can produce, he explained, can help individuals make better decisions about what they should personally handle, what they should delegate, what can be automated and what should be stopped altogether.

Time management, therefore, is not simply about being busy. It is about understanding the value created by the time invested in different activities.

For entrepreneurs and professionals, this can mean focusing personal attention on areas where their contribution creates the greatest value while finding more efficient ways to handle lower-value tasks.

Prioritize High-Value Activities

Way 33 is Prioritize High-Value Activities.

Innocent cautioned that being busy should not automatically be confused with making progress.

He encouraged people to dedicate more attention to activities connected to customers, income, learning, ownership and measurable results.

He also highlighted the value of learning from people who consistently produce meaningful results. Spending time around individuals who are doing great work, he noted, can expose people to new ideas, knowledge and ways of thinking.

The lesson is about deliberately choosing activities that can contribute to growth rather than simply filling the day with tasks.

Plan Your Day Before Others Plan It for You

For Way 34, Innocent encouraged people to Plan Your Day Before Others Plan It for You.

He challenged viewers to take control of their daily schedules instead of allowing other people’s priorities, distractions and demands to determine how their time is spent.

“Every hour” should have a purpose, he argued, encouraging people to think carefully about how they use the limited time available to them.

Innocent’s message reinforces the importance of planning ahead, setting priorities and allocating time to activities that contribute to one’s goals.

Learn to Focus Deeply

Way 35 encourages people to Learn to Focus Deeply.

Innocent emphasised the value of uninterrupted concentration, noting that deep focus can support learning, creativity, strategic thinking and the quality of work.

In an environment where people are constantly exposed to notifications, social media and other distractions, developing the ability to concentrate on one important task can become an important personal and professional advantage.

Deep focus can also help individuals make better use of the time they have by allowing them to dedicate their attention fully to activities that require meaningful thinking and execution.

Turning Time Into Wealth-Building Capital

The five Ways discussed in the latest session highlight an important dimension of wealth creation: how people use their time can influence the value they create.

Protecting time, understanding its value, prioritising high-value activities, planning ahead and developing deep focus can help individuals become more intentional about their daily actions.

The lessons also broaden the understanding of wealth beyond money. While financial resources can be saved, invested and managed, time is a finite resource that must be used deliberately.

For entrepreneurs, employees, students, professionals and creators, the challenge is therefore not simply to remain busy, but to ensure that the time spent each day contributes to learning, productivity, relationships, ownership and meaningful results.

The “1,000 Ways to Build Wealth” financial literacy sessions continue every Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. EAT on HiPipo’s official TikTok account, in partnership with HiPipo University, with the sessions also streamed on HiPipo TV and Gagamel TV YouTube channels.
