Uganda to Host Future Hospitality Summit Africa in 2027, Targets New Tourism Investments

Uganda is positioning its tourism and hospitality sector for increased investment as it prepares to host the Future Hospitality Summit (FHS) Africa in Kampala in February 2027.

The two-day summit, scheduled for February 2–3, 2027, at Speke Resort Convention Centre in Kampala, was officially launched on September 23, 2026, during a reception hosted by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and Kampala Serena Hotel.

The summit is expected to bring together hospitality investors, hotel owners, developers, tourism leaders, government officials, and private-sector players to explore investment opportunities and partnerships within Uganda’s tourism industry.

Roy Bannister, Head of Strategic Partnerships at FHS Africa, said bringing the summit to Uganda presents an opportunity to connect investors with opportunities across the country’s hospitality sector.

“FHS Africa’s coming to Uganda reflects something much bigger than a conference,” Bannister said, noting that the platform would connect investors, developers, and industry players whose engagements could lead to new businesses and investments.

Uganda Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Juliana Kagwa said the summit will provide a platform for investors, developers, hospitality operators, and other professionals to exchange knowledge, build partnerships, and identify business opportunities.

Kagwa highlighted Uganda’s location along the equator, diverse landscapes, and tourism attractions as some of the country’s key advantages in developing its tourism and hospitality industry.

The launch was also attended by the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Trade and Tourism and Kole South Member of Parliament, Hon. Okot Boniface Henry, who called for greater collaboration among stakeholders to unlock the country’s tourism potential.

Air connectivity was also highlighted as a key factor in expanding Uganda’s tourism and investment opportunities. The expansion of Uganda Airlines’ network to destinations including Accra and Kigali was cited as strengthening the country’s connections to regional and international markets.

According to UTB, investment opportunities in Uganda extend beyond hotels and accommodation facilities to the wider tourism value chain, including aviation, tour operations, food and beverage, destination management, professional services, financial services, and local enterprises.

The February summit is expected to give Uganda an opportunity to present its tourism and hospitality investment opportunities directly to international investors and industry professionals, while creating space for local businesses to establish partnerships.

The launch has consequently opened a wider conversation on hospitality investment, partnerships, new developments, skills, and business opportunities as Uganda seeks to expand the contribution of tourism to the economy. The event brought together representatives from hotel owners, tour operators, and tourism and hospitality associations, underscoring the importance of cooperation across the sector.
