Uganda’s Brian Luzinda was one of the 3 Tusker Project Fame (TPF) season 5 contestants that were sent home.   

The early exit of Brian means that Uganda remains with only two contestants in this year’s TPF competition. These are Allan Sekiranda and Sharon Nalwoga.   

TPF season 5 started today Sunday 3rd June with 6 of the 18 contestants already on probation.  At the end of the day, three proved their worth and were saved- given another opportunity to making it to the top. These were Nancy from South Sudan, Joe from Burundi and Doreen from Kenya.

Unfortunately, even with what both judges and teachers called improved performances, three contestants were sent home after just one week of in-door training. These were Diana from Rwanda, Linia from Tanzania and our very own Brian Luzinda.

This year’s TPF has six countries with Burundi being the latest entrant. The others are Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and South Sudan.

The contest that started yesterday with 18 contestants now has 15 remaining after 3 went home yesterday. Unlike the past seasons, this year’s competition has four judges. These included Juliana Kanyomozi from Uganda, Ian Mbugua from Kenya, Hermes ‘Hermy B’ Joachim from Tanzania.  With eight weeks to go, TPF is here to entertain you as it also promotes East African talent.

This week, Airtel National Basketball League kicked off as FUBA announced a one year deal with Airtel Uganda to sponsor the league. Airtel is one the leading Telecommunication companies in Uganda. Among other partners for the National basketball League are Rwenzori Bottling Company, Castle Lite and Daily Monitor.  The new deal will cater for the Men’s division one and the Women’s league, each consisting of 12 teams.

According to sources, each of the12 teams will get two sets of jerseys, five balls and goodies from Airtel and other partners.

Airtel’s sponsorship for the league comes after 8 year sponsors for the competition ‘MTN’ withdrew their funding.

Meanwhile, FUBA is trying to look for partners to come on board for the Men’s second and third divisions whose total is 41 teams.

To confirm this, Airtel Page administrators on Facebook posted updates and photos  that read “NO WOLOKOSO: Yes Airtel Uganda is the Official Sponsor of the FUBA League. Everything is RED and WHITE here at YMCA as MUK Sparks and KIU RANGERS sweat and break their ankles for the ultimate winner….”

The game ended MUK SPARKS 22 vs 69 KIU RANGERS.

We hope for the best of this league through this sponsorship. 

The departure of Angolan duo (Seydou and Esperanca) now turns out to be a blessing in disguise in big brother house stargame. For three weeks now since this Africa reality TV show kicked off,  two girls in Downville house had started enmity and were turning the African Reality house into a war zone.’

Talia and Eve are said to have had a clash on Seydou, they have been passionately hating  each other, though no one ever disclosed the real cause of their hatred.

Following the voluntary exit of these Angolans from Big Brother house, on Thursday, today Eve and Talia were seen toasting and singing together, preciously.

Talia and Eve have been the main rival in Downville house that also led to a division between downstairs and upstairs Housemates.

By the look of things now, Seydou has been the cause of their enmity and fact to the fact that he left the house; today the two reconciled and had good time drinking together.

The biff between Seydou and his partner Esperanca led to a division between downstairs and upstairs Housemates. However, since the Angolans left, the two distinct camps ceased to exist and the girls are now living in harmony. They acted like school girls in the Jacuzzi as they enjoyed their alcohol.

Customers are set to continue benefiting from the cut throat competition in the telecommunication sector as players continue to flood the market with promotions and subsidized packages.

This week, Uganda Telecom (UTL) launched a new promotion codenamed ‘U Switch’ which gives UTL customers a chance to call people on the same network throughout the day at Shs 750.

To confirm this, Uganda Telecom posted on its Facebook page:

“Hello all. The big thing we have been waiting for is here. Uswitch, the latest product from Uganda Telecom that gives u unlimited calls all day for just Shs 750. Its time to Uswitch. Tell your friends and relatives.”

Far still, in a press release, UTL’s new CEO Stanley Henning said that following the government of Uganda handing back the company to its major shareholder LAP Green/UCOM, UTL now sends a clear message to all skeptics who continued to spread speculation and rooting for the company’s closure following the 2011 crisis in Libya.

“We have been quiet for a while because of shareholder problems and some people started spreading rumors that we were closing. Contrary to that, Uganda telecom is here to stay. The launch of this new product therefore is a clear statement to the market that we are back and that we are now going to grow from strength to strength to become the premier telecom provider in this market,” Henning said.

Wati (Malawi) and Keitta (Ghana) have become the second pair of twins in crime that Biggie has put into conjoined outfits as punishment for their reckless smoking crimes.

Today, Big Brother called all housemates in Downville to the lounge to pass on his judgment after Wati and Keitta were caught smoking in the toilets again. I wonder whether these housemates don’t ever learn that Biggie has a bug eye that oversees his entire house!

For 48 hours, Wati and Keitta will have to wear the joint back to back outfits and are only allowed to put the attire off when they have to shower.

Remember Keitta is the only housemate with a real girlfriend ‘Mildred’ in big brother house, can you imagine how he and his girlfriend will look at each other for the next 48 hours! Can Mildred hold on to the shame and keep firm. How will they sleep through this time?  I guess you remember the days of the dirty sacks and heavy bones as punishment for vernacular in high school!

Meanwhile the rest of housemates were in for a surprise too. All of the laughter in the house came to a halt after Big Brother cautioned that should the two not finish this punishment successfully, then there would be severe consequences for all.

“Failure to comply with this will result in the removal of cigarettes from you shopping list for all housemates,” said to the sounds of gasps by Downvillers.

Big Brother had earlier given a similar punishment to Prezzo and DKB after they had a quarrel in Upville. More still, Keita and Mildred were nominated and are up for eviction this Sunday; will the duo survive this eviction?

Facebook has launched an application that lets Page admins schedule posts. A new help center page from Facebook also outlines how brand pages can now assign specific duties to multiple page admins, each with varying degrees of permissions.

Previously, Facebook Page managers have been only assigned as admin and they all had the same powers to delete admins, post updates and moderate user activity among other functions especially if one had the page creator password. The categorization includes Manager, Content Creator and Moderator among others.

The chart below outlines the new roles of manager, content creator, moderator, advertiser and insights analyst.

Additionally, you now schedule your page posts up to six months in advance at 15-minute intervals. I think this function that has been long overdue, since many user have always yarned for something to help them provide more time updates to their followers.
